Hurricane Dora's eye  came in close to Jacksonville
Beach in 1964
What was left of the Atlantic Beach Pier
after Dora, it was never rebuilt, located
behind the pier is the now gone Atlantic
Beach Motel
The sea wall that is now completely cover by sand, goes down over 20ft
and was completely exposed after Hurricane Dora.
The old Jacksonville Beach Pier lost its T
during Hurricane Dora.  The T was
rebuilt, but the footage lost to the storm
was not.  The pier ended up about 300
feet shorter
Rides on the boardwalk were bent like
toys by the wind
Homes in South Ponte Vedra Beach had no seawall to protect them
The seawall holds, this area is within
blocks of the old pier. .
